Cocktail Kit

My ‘Major Project’ for 2021

I’ve wanted a cocktail kit for ages, and of course needed to build my own, which took a LOT of thinking and planning so that I could make everything that I need work when mounted off the standing tom without it all falling over.

The shells are Metro Drums 10-ply blackwood with an inner walnut ply in sizes 15x24, 10x6, 12x6, finished by me using AquaCoat and Ubeaut products. The kick/tom shell has reinforcement rings at the bearing edges and in the centre where two 15”x12” shells are joined. The high tom and snare have double 45 degree bearing edges, kick/tom has roundover ¼” with 45 degree cutaway edges. Snare reso edge is 45°. Kick drum has ¼" full roundover edges.

Hardware is from Drum Factory Direct, Crash Boom Bam and I used INDe Drum tom/snare mounts and combination lug/floor leg mounts. Cymbals are on a Ludwig ATLAS cymbal arm and a Roodiment x-hat mount. Pedal is a Gibraltar cocktail pedal that has an inverted beater. Cymbals are Red Cymbals 13” Van Der Jazz hats and an 18” bright hybrid crash.
