Paul Buchanan’s Voodoo Preachers are a Gippsland blues supergroup featuring members of the multi-award-winning Amnesia Blues Band, The Blues Lizards & The Wayward Aces.

In 2020, between COVID Lockdowns 1 and 2, the Voodoo Preachers refined their swampy yet slick sound and recorded their debut album, Testimony, which went straight to #3 on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart.

In 2021, the band played the Moechella festival and the show they played that day was recorded for their album Live at Moechella 2021. The album remained in the ABARAC Top 25 charts for several months since its release. In the same year the band were shortlisted for Music Victoria’s Best Blues Band award.

In January 2023, the band released Down Sellings Lane, their second studio album. Twelve songs made the final cut and Down Sellings Lane delivers more of The Voodoo Preachers brand of brass-knuckled blues with a couple of exotic detours.

The Preachers have featured at festivals including Echuca Winter Blues, Blues Inn Bruthen, St Kilda Blues Festival, Boolarra Folk Festival & Glenmaggie Blues Festival as well as headlining at blues clubs in Victoria and NSW. In August 2023 Paul

Buchanan’s Voodoo Preachers qualified as finalists in the MBAS International Blues Challenge. In September 2023, the band were nominated for Music Victoria’s “Best Blues Work” award, and Paul was nominated for Blues Music Victoria’s “Hall of Fame.”

Buchanan’s manifesto has always been grunt over gloss and The Voodoo Preachers are clearly along for the ride.
