SNOM (Snare/Tom)

This was my accidental project for 2021.

I had a leftover board of walnut from my stave kit, and some time on my hands while I was locked down and waiting on parts for my cocktail kit, so decided to make a 14”x10” snare/tom (“SNOM.”) This drum functions as a floor tom with the snare off, and a very deep baritone snare when they are engaged.

The shells has a roundover batter edge and a double 45 degree snare-side bearing edge with hand-cut snare beds. I wanted to experiment with inlay so used this on the shell itself, and then decided to try it out on wood hoops. The shell is sealed with Aqua Coat products and finished with U-Beaut hard shellac and traditional wax.

All hardware is from Crash Boom Bam.
